Are you getting ready to move to a house in Pennsylvania? Moving calls on all of your organizational skills, and if you love making lists you’ll be in your element! Even the most carefully planned move can be affected by an accident or mishap on moving day, so be sure to include the number of your Pennsylvania home insurance provider in your lists in case you need to contact them.

It’s important to co-ordinate utility service connections and disconnections and home insurance coverage with your move.

•Start shopping around for a moving company as soon as you know your likely move date. Get three quotes from reputable moving companies and compare them carefully. Book your move, and contact the moving company again before the move date to check that your booking is in their system.
•Contact utility service providers about two weeks before the move date. Ask for final meter readings and arrange for services to be connected to your new home at least a day before you move in, and for services at your old home to be disconnected after you have moved out.
•Talk to your agent or insurer about your moving plans. Make sure that home insurance coverage is in place for both old and new homes, and check that your possessions are covered while they are in transit between the two locations.

We wish you luck in planning your move. It’s impossible to plan for every eventuality, so keep contact numbers for your Pennsylvania home insurance provider, utility companies or your moving company handy on move day.
